I specialise in the practical provision of medical cover together with giving professional advice to potential customers on resource medical requirements, medical risk assessment and general event medical arrangements. I have valuable experience of working alongside Health Care Professionals; and Statutory NHS Ambulance Trusts.
I'm Gof Smith. Gof is short for Godfrey but I never use that forename because hearing it sends my blood pressure up. I've been a first-aider for over 40 years having started as a volunteer with St. John Ambulance where the seeds of enjoying making people feel better were sewn. From that early start I have never lost my enthusiasm for providing medical cover at events.
In my career I have worked for SJA, Red Cross, and EMC Medical Services where I gained a great deal of experience in event and ambulance medical work. I also gained experience at management level and led medical cover at events such as Henley Regatta, Blenheim Palace Concerts, Cropredy Festival, Battle Proms series, Vodafone Party, Cornbury Festival etc.
I was an Ambulance Service First Responder in and around my home town of Faringdon for 16 years.
In addition I am a qualified first-aid trainer and really enjoy imparting my knowledge and experience onto members of the public, medical students, doctors and nurses.
I have a reputation for providing a high quality of service and some of my customers ask that I attend their their event personally.
I have recently decided to embark on a new venture as an independent medical service provider so that I can work in a wider environment in which I can take a lead.
